Wild Cherry Honey (Apis Cerana Bee)
Apis Cerana Honey (Cherry blossoms) are flowers that grow on Cherry trees. Cherry blossoms bloom before the other plants, meaning that, after finishing winterizing, the bees feed on it rather than stocking it in the beehive. Cherry honey is wonderful for treating respiratory infections, sore throats, or relieving a cough. Apis cerana is an excellent pollinator ensuring the pollination of various mountain crops, especially the fruits, vegetables and medicinal crops. It is found in the wild but it can also be domesticated for apiculture. Apis cerana is kept by beekeepers in various mountainous areas that could be tough to reach. There are initiatives to teach beekeeping as a long-term employment opportunity among the tribal communities of Nagaland. GALHO honey is sourced from the apiaries of tribal beekeepers.
