The mysterious Lakhori Chilli will first tantalise and then fire up your taste buds like nothing else.
While travelling through the Salt region in Uttarakhand we came across this queer chilli, strikingly beautiful and surprisingly lesser know. The farmers growing it themselves had little knowledge about its use. We tried it, watered our eyes and knew that we had to get it for you.
What does it taste like ?
5/5 peeps who tried it agreed it’s unlike anything they’ve tasted before. Its distinctive flavour and spicy demeanor give a slow burn leaving you asking for more. It’s smokey, fiery and will definitely add character to any dish. At 50,000-55,000 Scoville Heat Units, these chilis pack a punch. The chilli flakes taste slightly hotter compared to the whole chillies. Plus, look at that colour, isn’t it gorgeous?
Where does it come from ?
Imagine a small village nestled in the middle of a mountain with exquisite step farms as far as the eye can see, that’s where this yellow beauty is grown in the Salt region. It comes after 3 hours of arduous trekking uphill, but is it worth it? Hell yeah! These chillies have been grown by the most chatty mother-son duo, Savita Devi and Nandan, amidst juicy oranges, walnuts trees and the largest pumpkins ever! It’s hand-harvested, sun-dried, hand-pounded and then delivered to you, unfiltered.
How do I use it ?
Sprinkle it on top of your salad, pasta, pizza, tacos, eggs or almost anything you’d like. It’s perfect for anyone who appreciates true chili flavor.
